Sunburn - Home Treatment and Home Remedies

Sunburn, as the name proposes, is a burning of the skin due to contact to the ultraviolet rays of the sun. In case of soft sunburn, the skin may appear reddish, there may be itching of the skin, the skin may be hot to contact. These indications may be accompanied through fatigue and dizziness. In case of excessive sunburn, it could be fatal whereas suntan is the mildest form of sunburn. The white skinned people repeatedly think tanning of skin as a fashion speech in the west. A slight coloring of the skin occurs in due to the tanning caused by sun.

Over contact to the ultraviolet radiation is the foremost cause for non-malignant skin tumors. Big cosmetic companies promote the use of sunscreen to defend against sunburn. However, some of the scientists do not have the same opinion with this. They are of the view that sunscreen do not give protection against malignant melanoma, which may not be due to ultraviolet rays at all. When there is extra of heat, it leads to dehydration. Due to excessive heat a person can get heat stroke, may faint and vomit. This further leads to dehydration.


Home remedies for Sunburn:


- At this time try to drink plenty of fluids. Keep your self suitably hydrated. Keep your drinks cool.

- Also soak a soft kerchief in fresh cool water and apply it to your complete body. Keep away from use of soap since it may dry the skin and leave the skin dehydrated.

- Never try to apply oil or oily substance on the sunburns. It captures the heat inside, causing more severe effect.

- You really want to get relief in the sunburn pain, add about a cup of baking soda or a cup of Aveeno to bath water and take a bath.

- You should apply moisturizers that do not contain alcohol to ease left itching. Aloe vera-based products are fairly useful. It can be added to water or can as well be applied straight in the body region of sunburn.

- In lot of cases, one can get blisters due to sunburn. For relief in blisters, use antibiotic creams. Sterilize the wrappings to pass up infection. Never try to break open the blisters.


Preventive measures for Sunburn:


- As far as possible stay away from going out in the sun, mainly between 12 to 4 pm when the sun rays are at its peak.

- If you have to go out in sun, use a sunscreen. Confirm the SPF of the sunscreen. Apply the sunscreen 10 to 15 minutes earlier than you venture out in the sun. Apply the sunscreen in full quantity. Water based sunscreen are more helpful.

- Also try to use sunscreen for children too. Special sunscreen for children is existing in the market.

- And try to cover your face and body as far as possible. Wear full-sleeved clothes to care for your hands from getting sunburns.

- Always try to wear big sized glares to care for your eyes. Glares size should be cover not only the eyes but as well the region under the eyes. The skin under the eyes is extremely tender and needs protection. Cover the face too.
